Professor Lei Tao is Director, Chief Physician and Doctoral Supervisor of Head and Neck Surgery and Deputy Director of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Eye & ENT Hospital of Fudan University since July 2004.

Professor Tao specializes in diagnosis and surgical management of benign and malignant head and neck tumors, with particular proficiency in salivary gland surgery, thyroid surgery, laryngeal microsurgery and laryngeal function preserving operation and microsurgery reconstruction after head and neck surgery. He especially excels in endoscopic minimally invasive surgery, da Vinci robotic surgery and development of a minimally invasive pharyngeal-laryngeal surgical robot.

Professor Tao’s basic research focuses on immune microenvironment of head and neck tumors and related immunotherapy. He is also interested in clinical trials of head and neck tumors and basic research based on the results of these trials.

Beyond surgery and research, Professor Tao is deeply committed to medical education, actively training the next generation of head and neck surgeons.
